The New Jersey Legislature and Governor have decided that the actions of New Jersey governmental entities need to be more transparent to the general public. This newly enacted law (A3908) directly affects New Jersey fire districts. All New Jersey fire districts have thirteen months to create an internet web site and have posted online three years of minutes, audits and budgets. There are other items that will need to be posted online. Prospectively, districts will need to keep their sites current. Meeting dates and agendas will need to be posted. The State Office of the Comptroller is monitoring compliance. Contact us if you have questions, need information, or you need assistance complying. Department of Community Affairs has stated they will be forthcoming with additional information. Koerner & Koerner, P.A. has developed a web site for use by fire districts. Visit our sample web site at www.NJFireDistricts.org.
