New Hire Packet
The purpose of this form is to document that each new employee (both citizen and noncitizen) hired after November 6, 1986 is authorized to work in the United States. Form I-9 may be found here or at the Department of Homeland Security's website www.dhs.gov.
The purpose of this form is to instruct your employer to withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay. Form W-4 may be found here or at the Internal Revenue Service website www.IRS.gov under IRS Resources Forms and Publications.
N.J.S.A. 2A: 17-56.61 and the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) of 1996, 42 U.S.C. 653A, requires all employers, both public and private, to report newly hired and re-hired employees to a State directory within 20 days of their start date. The New Jersey New Hire Reporting Form can be found here or at www.nj-newhire.com for more information and the variety of ways to report new hires including online reporting, electronic reporting, by mail or fax.
